Our “box-free” designs avoid the tendencies of rapid low frequency roll-off and driver unloading that occurs below resonance in all vented boxes. It also avoids the low frequency roll-off and terrible dynamic smother associated with all sealed boxes (this includes quasi-horn cabinets with band-pass and short horn design elements). Why is BASSMAXX Technology cleaner?
Thanks to our proprietary breakthrough called Balanced Damped Technology, the distortions and colorations found in other horns have been eliminated. Also eliminated are most transient inter-modulation and cone break-up distortions. Unlike boxes, BASSMAXX uses no resonating energy to supplement output. This practically eliminates the coloration and ringing that occurs in other competing boxes. What type woofers and tweeters are in a BASSMAXX horn?
BASSMAXX designs use some of the industry's best know drivers and tweeters from top suppliers. These are truly some of the finest components available in the world. ALL of our subwoofer designs use woofers with 4" or larger voice coils and have been tested for 100s of hours under REAL-WORLD conditions before selection for manufacturing. Our line array technology uses the latest neodymium woofer and tweeter horn driver technology available today for lightweight designs with all the power expected from a touring array system. In the unlikely event of a failure, all of our cabinets can usually be field serviced in under 20 minutes with readily available components from BASSMAXX or our dealers.
Can BASSMAXX Balanced Damped™ horns be used without adding a special processor?
Yes. In fact, we're sure you'll find BASSMAXX horns easily surpass any combination of cabinet and processing in their ability to produce outstanding performance using basic, off-the-shelf crossover systems and limiters. However, given the realities of DSP and today's amplifier technologies, a BASSMAXX speaker will perform at its peak ability given proper power, limiting and processing offered in the latest amplification and processing technologies available today.
